| From the mid 1970s until 2004,
a Viables Activity Trust successfully managed the entire Viables
site. The farm had not been working for some years
and was near derelict in parts, but the Trust brought each building
back into use and let individual units to crafts' people. The Barn and
attached areas were developed into a hall and rooms, which were made
available to people for hire. In 2003 the Trust handed the lease back
to the local council. The Viables Community Association was set up to
manage the Hall and its linked rooms. The field, car parks and
individual craft units remain directly managed by the council.
